Salsa

This popular and energetic social dance started in the 1940s in Cuba. It emerged as a mix of Afro-cuban rhythms and American jazz. Cuban musicians brought the style to New York and it gained huge popularity in the 60s and 70s. There are different regional styles, but salsa is mostly known for its footwork (with a partner and solo) and connection between leader and followers.
