Hip Hop

Hip Hop Dance originates from a cultural movement out of the Bronx, New York in the late 1970s pioneered by the Black and LatinX Communities. First appearances of these street dance styles took the form of Breakin (Break Boys/ Bronx Boys).

What we recognize as Hip Hop Dance today can be linked to “New Skool” movements from the mid-80s and early nineties along with styles like the New Jack Swing and “Party Moves”, as well as choreography appearing in early music videos. The movement and culture of Hip Hop is still evolving to this day!
