Philippine folk dance

Philippine folk dance encompasses traditional dance from over 7,000 islands in the Philippines and over 180 ethnic groups. The main Philippine folk dance forms include Barrio, from the Philippine countryside, Maria Clara, from Spanish-influenced Philippines and traditional dance from Indigenous groups in the southern Mindanao region and northern Luzon provinces.

Each dance has distinct movements, textiles, instruments, and meanings. Many Philippine folk dances are drawn from nature and celebrate harvest, courtship, voyage, etc. Each dance depicts the way of life in that region.
